This project was the complete refurbishment and extension of an Edwardian house in a Conservation Area in West London.

One of the client couple is a garden designer and as part of the works we created a new timber-framed family room which provided a new visual and spatial link to the garden, including a semi-covered external terrace. This design also allowed us to maximise the amount of additional accommodation within the strict planning laws of the Conservation Area.

The use of glue-laminated timber beams in the project created a warm and natural space, filled with light, making the home a bucolic retreat in the heart of the city.

This project was shortlisted for the New London Architecture ‘Don’t Move Improve’ Award in 2016.
