We are thrilled to announce that our project for Another Place Hotels at the historic Amport House was granted Planning and Listed Building Consent by Test Valley Borough Council in October 2023. Amport House is a Grade II listed Country House built by John Paulet, 14th Marquess of Winchester in 1857. The house is set in beautiful gardens designed in 1923 by Gertrude Jekyll and Edwin Lutyens.
Another Place Hotels are the team behind Another Place: The Lakes and Watergate Bay Hotel. The new hotel at Amport will be based around their concept of ‘active leisure’ with the garden providing the venue for a range of guest activities. The main house will be converted to create 50 new guest rooms and a range of food and beverage offers. A new-building in the north-west corner of the site will create a ‘Swim Club’ and a ‘Kids’ Club’.
We worked with Marian Boswall Landscape Architects, the Planning Consultants LUC, Hayden’s Arboricultural Consultants, Airey & Coles, Martin Thomas Associates and PT Projects, as well as the planning team at Test Valley Borough Council, to create a scheme that will deliver a truly 21st Century Guest experience whilst enhancing the historic character of the site.
