Located within the popular Blackheath Conservation Area, this project will create sustainable homes and a new nursery on the site of a disused Royal Mail Sorting Office.

Near the railway station and located on a prominent corner, the site is important within the Conservation Area. We worked closely with Savills Heritage Team to analyse and assess the surrounding area to ensure our scheme was sensitive to – and would ultimately enhance – the heritage setting.

To ensure we created a scheme that would have the maximum positive impact on the community, we worked with Concilio to undertake an extensive consultation and engagement exercise with all local stakeholders. We also worked closely with MEP and sustainability consultants XCO2 to ensure our retrofit and new-build proposals would create comfortable and low energy consumption internal spaces.

Our designs seek to maximise the opportunities for Biodiversity. Working with Arbtech Ecology Consultants and Adams Habermehl Landscape Architects, our plans include rich, new areas of landscape and species-rich green roofs wherever possible.

Respectful of the heritage and character of the surrounding Conservation Area, our designs are a combination of the retrofit and adaption of the existing heritage buildings and the strategic introduction of new-build elements where appropriate. ”
