A firm fixture in the company’s calendar, the Tate + Co Summer Party is a much-anticipated annual event and this year the team took a trip to Margate, the historic seaside town on the Kent Coast, and as a change from Project and Event updates, we would like to take a moment to share our day with you.
First on the itinerary was a visit to the Turner Contemporary Creating a spectacular arrival to the first floor galleries, Cassi Namoda’s work ‘What are you doing by my sea?’ transformed the iconic windows.
Incorporating a series of intriguing installations, ‘The Sunken Boat’, an exhibition by Anna Boghiguian, explored global maritime histories and today’s environmental and geopolitical crises.
Beside the gallery, the Antony Gormley sculpture ‘Another Time’ stands on Fulsam Rock. The statue in the sea always generates a lot of attention and the team at Tate + Co couldn’t resist the obligatory photo.
The visit to the gallery was followed by a fish and chip lunch; well it would be rude not to?!
The glorious weather made a dip in sea a must. Ice creams and a visit to the mysterious, subterranean Shell Grotto contributed to the traditional ‘Margate Experience’.
Thank you, Tate + Co, for an excellent day out!
