Jerry Tate, Director here at Tate + Co, will be speaking at Grand Designs Live, London. Taking place at ExCeL London from 4-12 May, Jerry will be chairing two, 45 minute panel discussions on Wednesday 8 May.
Starting at 11:00, the first will consider What is Passivhaus and how do I do it?
Passivhaus is an energy efficient building standard and certification scheme that can create a home so efficient that you barely need to turn your heating on. It can be applicable to both new-build projects and refurbishments. Many people are now thinking about following a Passivhaus strategy for their projects, but where do you begin? Jerry and the expert panel will set out the basics for following this rigorous energy standard and will answer any questions you might have.
Jerry will be joined by Will South of Etude Consultants and LETI, Rafael Delimata of Bow Tie Construction, Emily Spry, owner of award-winning Passivhaus, Kintyre, Brian Horne of the Energy Saving Trust and Julia Riddle of CASTLE PLANNING LIMITED.

The second session will take place in the afternoon. At 14:00, Jerry will be discussing Retrofitting listed buildings to make them sustainable.
Owning a listed building is a wonderful experience but it can be very expensive in terms of energy costs! There are a number of low-carbon strategies now available to make heritage buildings significantly more sustainable so that they are better both for the planet and your pocket. The panel will include Laura Bacon of Purcell, James Vevers of Coniston Limited and Younha Rhee of Atelier Ten. Experts in restoring and improving the energy efficiency of historic buildings, they look forward to answering your questions.
We very much hope to see you at Grand Designs Live!
