Seckford Hall Hotel is a Country House Hotel set in one of the most iconic, historic houses in Suffolk. It was originally built for Thomas Seckford in 1553 and the house and gardens are Grade II* Listed. Our clients acquired the business in 2018 and we have been working with them since 2021 to create a contemporary, country house experience.

Our first step was to produce a comprehensive masterplan for the site. This set out a new and holistic vision for the hotel, based on health and well-being with country leisure pursuits as well as specific development opportunities.

These individual projects include additional bedroom accommodation, both in the main house and a new building, further additional rooms through proposed tree house accommodation, a glazed extension to create additional F&B space and a new spa area to provide treatments and relaxation. Smaller interventions, threaded throughout the historic gardens and landscape, were introduced to enhance the guest experience.

We completed the first phase of the masterplan in 2022, creating five additional hotel rooms in the East Wing of the main listed building. We have also submitted a planning and listed building application for a thirty-key, guest accommodation building, new F&B space and guest room tree houses.

We anticipate these plans gaining consent in 2024.

Seckford Hall is steeped in history and to have the opportunity to contribute to its future is a privilege. Respectful of the magnificent Tudor architecture, our designs seek to extend and enhance the building within the context of its original design, landscaped gardens and rural surroundings. ”
